Rebecca Hargreaves

Feb 2023 Artist of the Month

“Candy”

Rebecca Hargreaves’ exhibit “Candy” is exploding with color and an updated 1970s aesthetic. Rebecca creates two kinds of rugs—Scandinavian rya rugs, which are hand-knotted, and the second style is hand-tufted rugs with a tufting gun. Her one-of-a-kind pieces feature names like “Juicy Fruit,” “Bubblicious,” and “Freshen-Up,” which perfectly encapsulate Rebecca’s refreshing take on the vibrant world around us. “When I’m tufting, my head bursts with the next design and color combinations,” she says. Check out a sample of her effervescent style below.

About the Artist

Rebecca Hargreaves creates colorful hand-tufted rugs and wall hangings. She takes her inspiration from her childhood home in Sunset Lodge, England. She is also influenced by 1970s art, which is where her love of bright colors comes from.  “While tufting, my head burst with the next design and color combinations,” she says. Typically you can find Rebecca making rugs in her basement. She also enjoys teaching yoga and massaging horses.
