Michael Gresalfi in collaboration with Falling Squares

April 2024 Artist of the Month

“Our Changing Planet”

Michael Gresalfi uses melted wax, known as ‘encaustic medium’ as well as glass paint, oils and acrylics on a variety of surfaces including canvas, fiberboard, poster board, wood, and mirrors. His style moves between the semi-realism, to more expressionistic, and abstract styles.
This month, Michael will be presenting his 12 painting series “Our Changing Planet” as well as a video of the same name. He will be joined by Jordan Holt of Falling Squares to share the winners of the Earth Month Film competition.

About the Artist

Michael Gresalfi is a proponent of ‘Charitable Art’. He regularly donates art (or the profits from the sale of the art) to a wide range of charitable non-profit organizations that he is engaged with. Michael has a “Charitable Art Studio” ( in the FAC building at 1 N. Market Dr., Frederick) where 100% of sales money from all art sold in the studio goes directly to one of seven charities. Michael believes that we need to fully incorporate the humanities, and particularly the arts, with climate change-related data if we are to successfully build global advocacy for the difficult decisions we all must take and support in order to manage and mitigate the inevitable world-wide climate based disruptions we are already beginning to experience.
