“Quilting Frederick”

Aynex Mercado is an artist and quilter. She creates bold paintings out of bits of fabric. Each piece is vibrant and vivid. The “Quilting Frederick” exhibit showcases her love of Frederick’s unique architecture and natural beauty. Her fabric paintings include depictions of Carrol Creek Park and the bright lights of downtown Frederick. Residents of Frederick, MD, will love to display these beautiful quilts in their homes.

All work is for sale. All sale proceeds go to the artist.

Open to the public (entrance is free). Light refreshments will be served. Please show your support for local artists and musicians by stopping by.

About the Artist

Aynex Mercado is originally from Puerto Rico but has lived in Frederick, MD, since 2008. She learned to sew in high school, making clothes, which quickly turned into quiltmaking. Aynex has been creating art quilts for over 20 years and has exhibited nationally. She is a member of the Studio Art Quilt Associates and the DC Modern Quilt Guild. She loves the architecture in Frederick and wants to show the world its beauty the best way she knows.
